- If my child's height is in one range but their weight is a different range (higher or lower) what size do I get?
Generally, height is more accurate. For clothing, weight is usually only a factor if they are substantially over or under weight suggested range. Using the size chart to find the child's American size equivalent may help in this case. For additional help, please contact our knowledgeable Customer Service reps for information regarding which styles would best suit children who are over or under the suggested weight range.
When sizing for underwear and girl's swimwear we do recommend sizing by weight first, then height. Please refer to our underwear sizing chart.
- Do I go up to the next size if my child's height is on the border between 2 Hanna sizes?
If your child is on the border between two Hanna sizes determine how you would like the garment to fit and how long your child is going to wear it. For a perfect fit and for items that will be worn for a 3-4 season you can choose the smaller of the 2 sizes. If you would like to have plenty of growing room for your child, please choose the larger of the 2 sizes.
Will this item shrink? Should I size up to allow for shrinkage?
There is no need to size up to allow for shrinkage. If an item will shrink significantly, we have added extra material to allow for this. The added material will make these items larger than our preshrunk items in the same size, until they have been washed and dried 2-3 times. Once you receive your order, if you are unsure about how much shrinkage to anticipate, please contact our Customer Service department.
Can I size up on this item for longer wear?
We only recommend sizing up for longer wear when the child is in the upper half of the size range. Find the American size equivalent of the larger size on our chart or contact our Customer Service center for additional assistance.
I don't know her height, what size do I buy?
If you don't know the child's height, we recommend choosing the closest American size equivalent found on the Hanna size chart. If neither of these is known, please select a size using the child's age as a guide.
Can I order the right size when I only know her weight, not her height?
Weight is helpful when ordering underwear and girl's swimwear. To select a size for clothing, the American size equivalent would be a better indication of what Hanna size to order. If this is not known, then select a size using the child's age.
Do your clothes run big? small? true to size?
Hanna clothes run true to size. They will fit to the height and weight listed at the end of the range on the size chart. Because there are 4 inches of growing room in each Hanna size compared to just 2 inches in each American size, Hannas might seem a little big when switching from one size to another.
What women's size do I buy? (eg. I usually wear an 8-10, Hanna's size small is a 6-8 & medium is 10-12) What do I do?
Choosing the American size you normally wear may not be the best way to determine the correct Hanna size. Hanna women's clothing is not vanity sized, so you may wear a larger size than you might from another manufacturer. To get the best fit, take your body measurements and select the correct Hanna size from the size chart.
My height is in the 160 range but I am an adult woman. Do I wear a 160, XS or S?
Size 160 generally runs between an XS and S, but is cut for a child, not an adult. Call for specific garment measurements or use the kids size chart to see it your chest, waist and hip measurements match the children's chart or the adult one.
How is your underwear sized?
For the best fit, we recommend to size our Hanna underwear by weight. Please refer to the underwear size chart.
What size should I purchase for baby gift?

Things are on sale and I want to stock up for the future. What size should I order if I want her to be able to wear this next year?
It really depends on the age of the child. If your baby is now wearing a size 60, you will probably need to order a size 80 to fit them a year from now. If it's an older child, only one size larger than the wear now should be sufficient. You can also use your child's growth chart and growth percentile to project ahead. Using the growth curve on the chart, find how tall they will be at whatever point in the future you wish. Then choose the Hanna size that matches that height.
