Discovering the "double bottom line"
Giving back to the community is a subject close to my heart, and is woven into the very fabric of our company culture. The day we gave our first donation of Hanna clothing to a local women's shelter, my eyes were opened to kids in need. Growing up in Sweden, I never imagined that there were so many without food and shelter, and this bothered me deeply. From that day forward I embraced the idea of the "double bottom line" – you need to make a profit to stay in business, but you also need to give back to the community. By 1998 we had given away over one million pieces of clothing through our Hannadowns® program!
Every hanna helps children
Did you know that a portion of every Hanna purchase is donated to support children in need? Our Hanna Helps Program continues the company's 20-plus-year tradition of charitable giving by awarding yearly grants to hundreds of schools and nonprofit groups serving children across the nation. Here's to a better future for all children.
Loving the earth
Because we can't think about children without thinking about the future, we love earth-friendly fabrics like pure organically grown cotton. We're also the first retailer in the US to have over 50% of our products certified by Oeko-Tex Standard 100. So far, we've sold over one million hannas in organic cotton.
